Born in
1985, I am fortunate in the fact that I was brought up by a musical
family and therefore learnt to appreciate music from all walks of life.
My childhood has therefore endeared me to appreciate
music in all its different forms. Due to my upbringing, I was encouraged to experiment with various musical instruments and in time I learnt how to play the keyboard and drums. This brought in me a need to broaden my knowledge of music, its many forms, and how it is created. I began to experiment with the fundamentals of music. As a result I gained an extensive understanding of music. The lessons learnt were something that could not be learnt in Colleges or Universities. My initial "initiation" into the world of DJ'ing was listening, watching and learning from my older brother "DJ DIPS" who had already made a name for himself in the DJ'ing world. I would watch diligently as my brother mixed one tune with the next scratching the vinyl to the beat with minimal effort. Every now and then I would show the audience what I had learnt by dropping a mix here and there. The audience were impressed by how well I mixed and scratched at such an early age. In time, I began to make a name for myself. So much so that I started to produce beats and joined forces with a Urban DJ crew who went by the name of "Ace of Bass." I began to get noticed in the club scene and called myself Dj-K. The audience were wowed with my abilities, in particular my "Cross Hand Scratching Technique". As a result of my popularity, I found that I was being asked to DJ in Clubs, Bars, local daytime events, birthdays, wedding receptions, etc throughout the UK. My big break came in 2003 when I was booked to play alongside the likes of RDB, Punjabi Hit Squad, DJ Sanj and many more, RDB noticed my talent and consequently mentioned my name on a track on one of their albums. One of the earliest highlights of my career was when I DJ’d with Adil Ray of BBC Asian Network, for a VIP after party for "DRUHILL". My DJ skills went from strength to strength and as a result of my God given talent, I have been fortunate to DJ for many famous names from the local DJ circuit i.e. DJ Scratchy One, DJ Flo, DJ Kid-J and DJ Harpz and mainstream artists such as RDB, Punjabi Hit Squad, DJ Sanj, Panjabi MC, Metz & Trix, Jazzy B, Malkit Singh, Bobby Friction & Nihal, Tigerstyle, Sukshinder Shinda, Rishy Rich, Juggy D, Jay Sean, Raghav, Shola Ama, Kano, Heartless Crew, P.A.Y.G Cartel, Roll Deep, Dizzee Rascal, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DMX, Akon, Blu Cantrell, Kanye West, Montel Jordan, Fatman Scoop, Alicia Keys, Kelly Rowland and many more...
